The Recumbent features a reclined seat, making it suitable for full-day trips. It is also easiest on your lower back, and even more stable due to the overall lower centre of gravity. The Right Choice – Standard Or Large Pontoons
All Chiliboats models are exceptionally stable due to their dual-pontoon configuration. They are the watersports equivalent of a Jeep/4WD, or large SUV giving the same sense of security due to their superior seaworthiness. The standard pontoons support riders and equipment of up to 120kg capacity, the large ones up to 170kg. Even if you are not planning on using up every last bit of those reserves, we recommend the large pontoons for new riders as they offer a perfectly smooth experience under every imaginable condition.

Are these fast?
YES! You can get up to 2 times the speed of a Stand Up paddle board. The maximum speed of current models is about 16km/h, and you can keep a leisurely pace of 6 to 9 k/m without much effort. Chiliboats are the FASTEST waterbike on the market.
Can I go reverse?
Yes. Both models can go reverse. You just need to pedal backwards.
Can I carry these easily myself?
Yes, both models weigh about 19kg (barely 4kg heavier than a mid-range mountainbike). If you can do all of the groceries in one trip, the Chiliboats will be no challenge whatsoever!
Can I use these in saltwater?
Absolutely! The components of the Chiliboats were designed for the marine environment, so they can be used in saltwater. For all current models, we are using a resistant anodizing finish in black: no peel off, and tougher than any type of paint.
Are these easy to service?
Yes, because they only require a freshwater rinse with a hose or bucket of water. Apart from that, it’s basically like checking your wiper fluid in the car once a year.
Is this really easier than riding a road bike?
Yes! Firstly, you don’t need to balance on a Chiliboat at all. And we mean that even people who cannot ride a bicycle can still ride a waterbike! And there is virtually no resistance in the water, you are just riding on a perfectly flat surface the entire time. This feels very similar to riding a road bike down a slight slope.
Are these quick to take apart for storage and to put back together again?
Absolutely! The design evolved around being able to fit the Chiliboats into a backpack. They can be assembled and disassembled in less than 5 minutes respectively (without requiring any special tools, just with your hands!).
Can I ride this without a boat license?
Yes! There is no course, certification or licensing required for you to go on your own adventures. Albeit the exact requirements may be slightly different in some regions (some places require you to wear a life jacket, others don’t etc.), it’s most similar to a SUP or Kayak in that regard as opposed to a jetski or boat.
